Kitten, who is only a year old herself, has a new baby. This little one still has no fur on its paw, so it’s going to be a while before it emerges from the pouch. I didn’t know that possums had babies so young …
baby, cute, denzil, mrs_fatbum, possum, possum_chronicles
Thanks for submitting your work inPets Need A Hug
love it, great shot
Thanks Robert – a special moment for me!
Too cute really – tonight it’s firmly locked away, but I can feell all its little arms and legs :)
Amazing shot,Denzil, it’s the first time i have seen such a shot, well done!!
Thanks Lance – I have occasionnaly seen a little paw sticking out before, but never when I’ve had the camera – or indeed when the possum was Kitten, which is the one I can get the closest too (she wraps her tail around my finger while she’s eating!). She doesn’t seem to mind me feeling for the baby, and checking out how The Bump is:)
Oh no, a teenage mother! I love the shot!!
Thanks Kay – yes, I was surprised to find a one-year-old was having a baby!!! Obviously teenage sex is a problem in the possum world as well LOL
Now that is a special moment!!
Wasn’t I lucky???
oh, how cute can it get???? this is adorable. a brilliant piece of work.
But wait, it gets cuter! This pic is a couple of weeks old now, and in the last few days the baby has had a whole back leg sticking out, and I’ve been playing with its little toes!!! Last night I saw Kitten with her baby out, on her back, but she wouldn’t come to me, and anyway my camea is temporarily dead (bugger!).Hope I’ll get more chances soon, as she is less nervous with her new baby:)
Oh Denzil, this is an awe inspiring shot. I am so jealous that you have this affinity with these adorable wild creatures. I can’t believe she lets you touch the baby while it is still in her pouch. This is a sure favourite.
Thanks so much – what a lovely comment! Yes, I’m very lucky with the possums, that they trust me so much. Mind you, if they keep breeding at this rate, I’ll be completely overrun with hungry critters!!!
This is an amazing shot. Well done Denzil.
Thanks Al – this one is of course now out, and tonight she chewed on a tiny piece of apple while I held it (the apple, not the baby!)
Most people who have possums just want them gone. You obviously are not one of those people.
I did start feeding them away from the house, in the hope they’d stay away forever, because I really didn’t like them at all … but now of course, I’m captivated by them, and can’t get enough!
