FatBabyBum all grown up by

Taken earlier this week. FatBabyBum only visits every second night or so. I suspect that he is indeed a boy, and he’s starting to flex his hormones and establish a territory of his own. He will still let me pet him while he’s eating, and he still gently brings my fingers closer, as he impatiently waits for his apple. He has lost most of his noticeable tawny colouring, and now looks pretty much like the other baby, now known as Fatty Ratty.

Another day in the Chronicle of the Possum.

  • Funny you should say that! I thought he had a guilty secret myself!!! But he certainly still has that cute ’I’m staring straight at you’ look :)

I love that note in the description ‘Chronicle of the Possum’ LOL. It’s a gorgeous picture too – those little hands clasped round the apple.

  • Thanks! I’m thinking of changing my user name to Possum, and just starting up a possum group here on RB. I reckon the observations we can make, just by regularly interacting with the same animals each night, could add a major boost to our knowledge of how they live and work together. But I’m biased LOL
It’s amazing when he lets me stroke his paws – they’re obviously so incredibly strong and sinewy.

Wow, Denzil, you are now the official “Possum Mother”! How wonderful to see this little one growing up and becoming tame. We had possums when we lived at Redwood Park, and there were several mothers who brought their babes for a free feed – it was great to get up close and feed them, and even stroke them.

  • Isn’t it truly a wonderful experience – they ARE wild after all, and that they choose to trust me is really quite heart-warming!!
