Well, from Canada and the USA actually!
What an amazing trip – 6-and-a-bit weeks across Canada from west to east, almost entirely by train, and then up and down the north-east corner of the USA, again by train.
I must now start the rigorous sifting process to post just the best of my (many hundred) photos here on RB. Although I did take a laptop with me, it was only a small netbook, and I really couldn’t judge the quality of the shots on the small screen, so I’ve saved everything till I got home. So stand by, friends and BubbleMates, for a few shots a day for quite a while!
I’ve missed seeing all the new work, and I apologise for not responding to comments, favouriting, challenge places, etc., while I was away. I won’t even look at previous work, just start today off as if I was a brand new member.
Travelogues are soooooooooo boring, so here are just a few highlights: a black bear and her year-old cub, fossicking on a rocky shoreline for shellfish; a wolf trotting along a shore, completely unconcerned at our presence on a boat just metres away; harbour seals sunbathing on a rock in Clayoquot Sound, BC; crossing the Rockies on the million-dollar train; my first sight of a praire-dog, in the lot next to our hotel in Edmonton; a private tour of Parliament House in Ottawa; squirrels; Niagara Falls; Old Quebec City, towered over by the enormous Hotel Chateau Frontenac, the most photographed hotel in the world; seeing President Obama drive past in Boston; one of the best aquariums I have ever been too, also in Boston; meeting up with a couple of mates at Harvard; the beauty of the Virginia countryside, just a stone’s throw from Washington, DC; the White House; the Mural Arts tour of Philadelphia; the Constitutional Museum in Philadelphia; and then of course, NEW YORK!
