Mrs Fatbum's new baby
For a couple of days I could see a tail or a paw, or once a whole arm, coming out of Mrs Fatbum’s pouch, indicating that the baby was ready to enter the world – and then last night I took my camera out, hoping to catch a sight of a paw or a tail – and there was the whole baby, perched on Mrs Fatbum’s back, having its first Big Night Out!
JUST FEATURED in Topshelf Wild Life and Nature Art – many thanks to group moderators for choosing Mrs Fatbum and her gorgeous baby!!!

Awww, this is priceless.

Thanks Julie! We haven’t exchanged for a while – I’ve had such trouble with RB lately, although today it seems to be working. My postings and responses are somewhat intermittent because I often can’t see other people’s images …
Great to hear from you!

Thanks so much – it’s such a privilege to have these creatures who trust me enough to share their babies with me!
MountainHawk
Awwww! What a great capture!
Denzil replied
Thanks MountainHawk, just went to see how she was going, perched in her comfy little branch of a big pine tree … although it’s daylight, and she’s technically nocturnal, she was quietly giving her new baby a wash! Too difficult to capture on camera, you’ll just have to take my word for it:)

Ta Lance, it is indeed a cute little clinger! Sitting on top of her mother at the moment, enjoying the sunshine through the leaves – gorgeous!

This photo is incredible but I am more in awe of your wonderful appreciation of our wildlife as I would indeed feel privileged to have any creature decide to live and raise a family in my own domain. Off to look for more precious photos of Mrs Fatbum. Cheers.

Thanks! I’ve got quite a few ‘tame’ creatrues around me – galahs, sulphur-cresteds and rainbow lorikeets who get fed each day, magpies who are reasonably tolerant of me, wood ducks with babies, etc – but my possums are the ebst! For years I hated them and plotted their demise (really), but one day decided to feed them away from the house in the hope they’d poop somewhere else. This led to trying to handfeed them, and now I have two families – two mothers (Mrs Fatbum and Other Fatbum) and last year’s babies (FatBabyBum and Gumtree Baby), plus Mrs Fatbum’s new baby, and Other Fatbum’s baby which is still hidden and not showing any signs of emerging just yet. I don’t see Mr Fatbum anymore, I guess the girls drive him off after he’s done his duty!
