Shane is a homeless man begging in the streets of the Sydney CBD, see photo Shane’s Story. I was amazed at the indifference of all the people around him. In the city that afternoon there was a demonstration against the Live Export Cattle trade to Indonesia and the mistreatment of cattle. The demonstrators were concerned about the cattle, but not so concerned for the homeless.

The building in the background is the Apple store on George Street. 3 or 4 levels packed with people buying their I-Pads, I-phones etc.
Apple have branded their product well, to see 5 or 6 year old kids at the apple store playing on the computers etc, you realise the encroaching nature of consumerism.

The only hope for the homeless is if we can brand them with a logo and make them a consumer item, people may then spend their money on the homeless.

Yes I am an old cynical left winger :-)

Heads held high, and wearing dark glasses – all the better to ignore what they dont wish to see. A very good picture.

  • Thanks Geoff, it is easier for us all to ignore, but it takes so little to give and we recieve so much in return :-)
