End of the Road

End of the Road

Pavement affects our environment in many ways. First, it invites voluminous traffic, the very veins and arteries, pulsing with flow full of our toxic vehicles; next, it creates vast area of impervious surfaces that collect and divert pollutants to more concentrated pools and slurries, as well as raise significantly the ambient surface temperatures. Finally, it cross-fences our natural world with barriers of death, greatly diminishes habitats, interupts territories for animals and plants, as well as providing accelerated means for some predatorless exotic plants and insects to spread. Our world wouldn’t be the same today without it.
