making the series pages

Hi all, I’m not one for writing alot, but a couple of people have showed interest in how I did the series pages. I will try and explain what I did. If you need more help or you can’t understand my instructions let me know.

Here’s an Example of Series Page and another example

1. first thing, the series pages are just Journal entries. One for each series.

2. adding the images, that’s a little bit tricky but not that hard you couldn’t do it.
first of all display your public portfolio. Then right click on the image you want, select properties, and copy the URL for the image (not the page URL)

should look like
http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/portfolio_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg

3. paste the image URL into the Journal. Putting a ! at the start and finish of the url
looks like this

4. different size images.
in the image URL there is portfolio_thumbnail, this sets the image size.
if you chane the portfolio_thumbnail to overview_portfolio_thumbnail, or gallery_thumbnail, or mybubble_watchlist_thumbnail the image size will change.

examples

http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/portfolio_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg

http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/overview_portfolio_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg

http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/gallery_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg

http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/mybubble_watchlist_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg

Does that make sense so far?

5 next making the image a link.
to allow you to see what I am doing here I have to add some spaces after the ! and after the : when you type it into the journal you will have to remove any spaces.

you will need the image URL and the Page URL, and type like this

! image URL ! : page URL

example

! http://www.redbubble.com/rbimages/portfolio_thumbnail/natures_11_RJ2.jpg ! : http://www.redbubble.com/works/show/60238

will look like

6. images across the page.
you can play around with the format of your page, to get images next to each other all you need to do is keep typing in one long line with a space between each image/page. hope that makes sences. . . . ?

will try and type it out here

! imageURL ! : pageURL {space} ! nextimageURL ! : nextpageURL {space} ! nextimageURL ! : nextpageURL

where the {space} means real space must be there.

Craig Shillington has howto pages that might explain better than me

Leave me a comment if you understand what i was trying to say!

ok ….for those of us that have a real computer (apple macintosh) there is no right click, and I live 10 miles from Microsoft (evil empire) Instead of doing all of this space typing ,selecting, copy paste, wouldn’t it be easier if RB wrote some code to make it easier to select different galleries,or purchase it. I would be willing to pony up a few bucks for an extra galley and I am sure other people out there in bubble land would as well.

“control” click on a Mac is the same as a right click on a PC. You can also use a mouse with two buttons on a Mac. I’ve been servicing Apple products since 1988. Wouldn’t use anything else.

Tags allow you to group images. For example I have a series called neon in my portfolio and these can be displayed as a group by using the following URL:

    http://www.redbubble.com/people/revad/art/everything/tags/neon

    Revad’s Neon Series

And just by changing the neon at the end of the URL to fibonacci you get my fibonacci series:

    Revad’s Fibonacci Series

Using this technique you can quite easily add a menu to your profile as I have done:

Hey there dennis I agree with wombatwal. I can follow getting the ‘image URL’ but what do you mean about pasting it into the ‘journal’ you mean my journal under ‘entry’ like id upload an image or what? Or has jargon changed – like ‘art’ used to be called ‘portfolio’? cheers in anticipation

Thanx so much, I was wondering how to do this, I understood totally every step of the way what you were saying, i am off to make a few ‘series’ folders now, I have gotten quite a collection of frogs, snakes & flowers photos together, so now i can organize them a bit better in my portfolio. Thanx again Dennis, muchly appreciate your time spent doing this. Becca xx
