Children are the greatest miracle that there is. Looking at them I see the future, and also the true ambassadors in the world…My children in the painting asking you to open your heart and help children who suffer from cancer. Any purchase that you make if it is a greeting card or a print 100% of the proceeds will go the “Hope of Life” project.

“Hope for Life” Project
Of the fifteen thousand new cases of cancer revealed each year in Israel, many are children. When a child is afflicted with the disease the tragedy is even more intense and the question of “Why”? is especially disturbing. These children, however,, have hope: their chance of recovery is high. 85% will overcome the disease and return to a normal life. Their success is greatly dependent upon assistance they receive throughout their illness. For this reason, we have instituted the “Hope for Life” project.
The Emotional Aspects of Recovery
Due to extended treatments, child cancer patients miss a great deal of school and become detached from the regular educational and social framework familiar to them. Falling behind in their schoolwork makes it extremely difficult for them to function during the interval between their treatments and recovery, proving detrimental to their self-perception and self-esteem. Coping successfully with the disease is greatly dependent upon the emotional health and strength of the patient – making the “Hope for Life” project evermore significant.
Private Tutor for Each Child
The “Hope for Life” project incorporates many tutors throughout the country, assisting child cancer patients with their schoolwork. The tutor, generally a teacher or student, meets with the child between 6-10 hours a week in the child’s home. The tutor is in close contact with the child’s teacher, making sure that the child completes all of the missed schoolwork
Private Teacher, Big Brother and Good Friend.
The relationship with the tutor has an extremely positive influence on the child, on his family and on the association he has with his peers. In addition to assisting the child with his schoolwork, the tutor serves as an “older brother” and close friend, with whom the child can discuss everything and confide in freely. Providing a sense that “not all is lost”, that there is a future and that it is necessary to persevere in studies and in life in general, helps to strengthen the child and his surroundings.
The “Hope for Life” project provides assistance for hundreds of child cancer patients treated in hospitals throughout the country. Operational costs of the program, per child, per year, is 7,200.- NIS this is approximately $2,000.-, this is including training and employment for the tutor.
