Artist's Description

Native to Europe and Asia, they were first introduced into North America as a decorative waterfowl for parks and zoos. By the early 1900’s, a number had escaped into the wild and Mute Swans can now be found from New England south to Florida. Although their name is “Mute” Swan, they are not mute, but their calls are quiet and do not carry very far. Photographed in Polk County, Florida.
