Light thoughts with a bit of hefty among them.

Would you like a little music to your ears ?
I read of abuse, and sadness.
The black of existence.
It’s enough to make a happy heart feel
a dump on one’s chest,
eyes ache under the weight
as though there are screws to the brow,
turning, tightening.
Spirit in its happy bubble shape,
no matter all the laughter gathered there,
flops a bit.
History shows a grim past. Read of war
and dictatorship, of starvation and brutality.
Horror stories, yet throughout history,
the remarkable shining hope sustaining.
The courage of human spirit mastering the will to
survive in the face of hardship and loss.
I see evidence of a lot of moaning on about
the world today, when in reality the world is
spinning along quite nicely, though I feel it could
do with a burst of gutsy spirit and less emphasis
on singlemindedness.
I’ve written my thoughts before on
the bad influences of a greedy media.
Won’t go into that again, not this time anyway,
except to say, ” Do they have to focus only on
the bad news ? ”
There are many wonderful people in our world,
working hard in their employments;
people creating better circumstances for the
underprivileged;
people that provide us with quality entertainment;
people who create masterpieces to add rich culture
to society; and
builders, nurses, doctors, trades people in all fields
of work; farmers, caregivers, environmental workers;
volunteer peoples working for the health and care of
animals etc; firefighters; World Vision etc etc etc;
people who get on with life in the spirit of good works.
How often in the news do we hear of good deeds ?
For older generations, that have lived through some
difficult wartime years, the depression years etc,
reading and hearing the news must have a disheartening
affect – especially, when today’s range of possibilities
are diverse. No wonder some say
” what is the world coming to ? “
I spoke with my father yesterday. He’s in his 98th year.
His life has consisted of many and varied experiences
and a lot of hard work. He also served abroad in
World War II, for the most part in Italy and North Africa,
in the front lines, and in the desert, and was a significant
presence at some of the famous battles.
He was a historian during the war, and some of his
writing is published in various places.
My father’s in poor shape now, but soldiering on
with a mighty spirit; his pain is not for the faint hearted.
Dad knows I’ve had some difficult experiences this year.
He is aware that there have been times in my life when
I’ve helped others. This year, I’ve accepted help
when people have come to me saying ’’ this is what
we’d like to do for you “
I was sharing yesterday with Dad, some of the ways in
which people have helped me this year.
He listened, then after a pause he said to me,
” why is it, that we never get to hear about all the
good people there are in the world,
because there are plenty of them,
wonderful, generous hearted people ”.

I’m thinking this moment of a beautiful song
” The Circle Of Life “
Let’s keep rich musical theatre in our core,
keep up the fighting pioneering spirit.
Love thoughts to all,
Del

    Well said, Del; I keep reminded myself of this, drawn into opaque thought too often. I have lived a full life. I cannot say it has been all good, forty years of hell I created myself on some plane I am sure—irregardless, when there has been joy it has been astounding. But we cannot forget while in awe of the beauty of nature and mostly when in the company of lovely people, that a few have drawn us all into hideous wars. They happen when our bellies are too full and are guards have been left down. Though I try to be positive, there is no reason to believe another will not occur. So I sleep in positive with one eye open. If the USA falls to Socialism, the world will experience a darkness the likes of which it has never before experienced I fear. I believe in one world government, where all people work together for a greater humanity—but this is not the time. The consciousness is not right. How do I know? Governments can be no better than the people entrusted to lead. If they are immoral on any level, it will be reflected in their rule. What are morals? They are obvious, and indisputable. We have been entrusted a great mission. xox

    Thank you Joe, I so appreciate your response.
    In reference to leaders, yes, I pray they use their given position,
    wisely.
    Morals, obvious and indisputable …
    yes and how quickly the easily disposable are thrown out,
    potential down the tube. Relationships of all kinds need to be worked at.
    I pray the world doesn’t lose its soul heart and sense of
    good and humour to perverseness.
    Whatever our circumstance and experiences, what matters
    is the splendour of our heart,
    our heart for the earth and its inhabitants, and to love in
    unity and love, and journey unselfishly.
    Splendiferous, that’s what we need to be,
    splendiferous.
    Thank you Joe for your input and your consciousness oxo

    A bit of hefty is right! More hefty than lighthearted but more powerful for that. Lessons we do need to hear – to begin a day with gratitude even if it is just for having another day is to arm ourselves, to pick up our fallen shields and go out and do for others what needs to be done so they too might be grateful for another day of endless possibility. And to laugh occasionally too – at ourselves if we can find nothing else to laugh about!! Love this morning lesson, Del.

    The part that stoof out the most for me was ’’How seldom do we hear news of good deeds?’‘
    So sadly true! I think we tend to focus more on the negative than the positive.
