'Charade' by Tommy Dean LoMaglio

It’s time to play pretend again
It’s time to play pretend
To take part in this masquerade
To fool the world with your charade
Try not to break when ’er you bend.

It’s time to hide away, Today
It’s time to hide away
To veil my heart, Shut it in
Who wants to hear it beat again?
Lock it up and make it stay.

The time has come again, Dear friend
The time has come again
To hide behind my porcelain face
Do all I can to erase all trace
Of where my heart has been
Until you let me out again…

'Charade' by Tommy Dean LoMaglio by

I wrote this poem at a point in my life where I realized that it was through with putting on a face to fool people. I decided that if you cannot see past my flaws and differences then I do not need you in my life. I call it the “love me, or leave me alone” mindset.
