This Audi R10 #9 mastered 397 Laps with an average speed of 225,23 kph at the 24h of Le Mans 2010.
Hunted by the Peugeot Team, especially by last years winner Alex Wurz from Austria in the Peugeot 908 HDi Fap #1 , they raced to the max and set a new Le Mans Record in Distance and average speed.
The old Record was still from the year 1971 when austrian Helmut Marko set the then record in a porsche 917. At this time the cars reached up to 400 kph on the “Hunaudyere” straight, today they come close to 350 kph. At this time, also the famous Film “Le Mans” with Steve McQueen was produced, showing the thrill of the 24h in Le Mans.
The winning drivers 2010 were Mike Rockenfeller, Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard. They can now measure their new records with a new Rolex Watch, provided from the official Sponsor of the 24h.
The picture was taken in the pits on Thursday during the qualifying session.
