This image shows the Sleeping room for the novices in the Battle Abbey of Hastings, UK. The Battle Abbey was founded after the Battle of Hastings 1066 between the anglo saxon King Harold and William the Conqueror of Normandie.
It was the most important battle in Englands history, becuase it ended the era of the saxon kings. William the Conqueror, who won the battle, founded Battle Abbey after the Fight on the place where the battle took place.
It is quite remarkable that the Novices room in Battle Abbey already had a fireplace, an unusual luxury for that time!
