I am still awaiting the promised ‘gentrification’ of Brighton but secretly I hope it never comes. There is something uniquely British about a tacky Sea-side town. This old B&B is really evocative of Brighton’s somewhat dodgy reputation. Hidden away as it is on this back alley, one can imagine all sorts of past, colourful, characters going through its now boarded-up entrance. This was taken when I dragged my boyfriend to Brighton during this past Easter long weekend. The last and only time I had seen Brighton previously was in a thunder storm, everything was closed and the city was nearly deserted. Although this time it was sunny and packed with visitors I still found that that same sense of desertion lingered along its laneways. We took this on the way back from having tea and giant meringues at ‘The Mock Turtle’ which is a true Brighton institution.
