Once a very popular shopping mall, Bannister Mall fell victim to changing population and demographic patterns. It could not compete with newer malls in other parts of the city; it became crime-ridden, and gradually it lost tenants. For years, Bannister Mall stood mostly vacant, just barely hanging on. It was recently razed to the ground, and the area is now entirely desolate.
