Ruins of the Mall 3 by

Third of a series of 3 taken at this location.

The ruins of Bannister Mall, in Kansas City, MO.

Once a very popular shopping mall, Bannister Mall fell victim to changing population and demographic patterns. It could not compete with newer malls in other parts of the city; it became crime-ridden, and gradually it lost tenants. For years, Bannister Mall stood mostly vacant, just barely hanging on. It was recently razed to the ground, and the area is now entirely desolate.

3 exposures, tone-mapped in Photomatix. Additional processing included a solarizing filter.

Camera: Canon EOS 50D (24-104mm lens)
Aperture: f/8.0
Focal Length: 24 mm
ISO Speed: 100
