This is an old photograph of my grandfather, A.G. Delany (on the left), with his friend Hugh Wells. The handwriting on the back of the photo is faded but I believe it says “Bear Creek, 1913.”
I found this among many, many other old photographs my mother had kept in various cardboard boxes. I sorted and scanned nearly all of the ones that were still salvageable, and posted them up on Flickr.
I found this one in particular incredibly intriguing. I have no idea who Hugh Wells was. I did a bit more restoration work with it, including a texture layer, today.
Obviously, I didn’t take this photograph; unfortunately, I am quite sure there is nobody living who can tell us who the photographer was.
Someone once really cared about this picture; you can see the spots where thumbtacks held it up on display, long ago.
