Woo Hoo I’m back in the creative groove after having no time or inclination to paint for weeks!!!!!! Loving the brilliance and glow of oils, and for the first time in years am thinking on getting a collection together to exhibit….....
Much as I do love all my students and value the whole teaching experience, it’s really grand to be on holidays and doin’ it for myself!

Aren’t oils fabulous? I’m using the fauve palette as taught by Paul McCarthy at 2008 Grafton Artsfest. Permanent rose rather than alizarin crimson, and cobalt turquiose and prussian for the blues. Clean clean clean!

The hardest thing about composition (there’s that word again!) is troubleshooting it when it’s horribly off. I never actually consider the rules when I’m flying by the seat of my pants and pure instinct. But once I (belatedly and reluctantly) studied it I found I can better work out what’s wrong.
