amazing work i just love it,r u a hair illustrator? if u could tell me what was ur idea behind this illustration?why paisely?have u done series of illustrations on the same theme?

  • Yes, I work as an illustrator :)
This was an experimental series, and I just wanted to play around with the form of the paisleys taking form as another thing – ie: hair. A lot of my illustrations are concerned with femininity, but I use paisley because I have Scottish ancestry. As an Australian though, I feel disconnected from my ancestry so I find myself borrowing from other cultures a lot – and in the case of the paisley, it is borrowed from Persia.

wow..so interesting, being an asian i am very much familiar with paiselys as paiselys are the strong design element especially in textiles of persia and india..but for me those designs are so typical i really love the way u have used paisleys in ur designs..

i am student of textile design final year and i have taken hair illustations as my thesis topic initially i wanted to do somthing on feminity ,hair is a strong feminish element so i thought i should make my designs on hair, now i am facing few problems that when and why hair illustrations started, illustrators make them just to make beautiful designs?i am sharing my problems with you because u have worked on similar theme and i guess you can guide me in a better way..do u think such designs can be used on fabric printing, have you ever thougt that for your designs if no then why not?i’ll be really thankful if u can guide me :)

  • There are a few illustrators who use hair much better than I do! Hannah Stouffer, Shawn Kuruneru, Eveline Tarunadjaja, Stella Im Hultberg etc

Of course hair can be used as a textile design, it’s how you execute it that will prove how beautiful the design is!
