Things you should never say # 1

Talk about a backhanded compliment. Some women just get caught up in the moment and say the wrong thing.

The background pattern in this illustration was created by me – zoom in to check out the flourishes in the detail. I borrowed the colour scheme from livid from colourlovers.com.

PS It’s ok to comment on this! I’m not sensitive about the fat issue, nor do I think anyone should be!

Wow, Natalie, this is excellent work! The detail in the wallpaper is way cool. I also like the theme. Can’t imagine anyone saying something like this, but I’m sure it’s happened. The lettering is great, the red ‘Well’ really brings it out. More!

I’ve had that – even from boyfriends! One told me not to worry so much, my face was beautiful and it didn’t matter so much about the rest of me (oh to be size 16 and 16yo again!).

Fantastic work! Aww the fat girls shinning light! I am planning on going back to high school teaching this year.. I might have to see your later about using your work as a resource. I have always wanted to tackle this issue somehow . I think it more inportant than ever. I have always been a ‘Big” girl this sort of statement really hurts people and now with governments worrying about ” the obesity crisis” people think they can say what they like…the problem will get worse because you can’t lose weight until you can feel good about life! Now I am not dieting anymore…after being on some sort of diet since age 5….I just concentrate on feeling well both mentally and physically and eating healthy foods . I don’t even own a set of scales!!

One thing I find difficult is finding beautiful images of real size women to use in my work … got any suggestions? A very happy supporter Milly!
