Perhaps you can shed some light on why this piece wouldn’t be accepted into a group you host, The Artistic Nude? I’m quite baffled as to what isn’t artistic or nude about this, and compared with the other works in the group it would fill well within the guidelines. Unless illustration isn’t accepted?

The piece is indeed very artistic – and topless. Finding implied nudity in a piece makes some work that doesn’t show a full body acceptable. And generally I use the “neck/belly button test” for picking what’s implied and what’s simply topless or bottomless: if the model is nude from the top to below the belly button or nude from the bottom to the neck, I’ll approve it easily. But if a piece ends too soon in either direction, it becomes something less than an implied nude – for me, at least. :-)
However, there are multiple moderators of Artistic Nude and they may have more favourable criteria that would get this piece accepted. I fully support anyone with a rejection (I SOOOOOO hate that manditory word in all the form letters!) to ask for a second opinion from another moderator in this Group. There are no egos or sensitivities between the three of us so my being overruled doesn’t bother me. Also, I’m a co-host, not the owner of Artist Nude so any changes in protocol will come from the owner and, if they change my criteria, I will happily adapt to those changes.
Thanks for asking both in public and so considerately. It’s great to be able to make a reply for everyone to see when it comes from a question this well stated. :-)
