I went on a photography trip to Ethiopia in February. It was just spectacular! Beautiful people, interesting towns, markets and daily-life activity and stunning scenery in the Simien Mountains. At times what I saw was confronting but the overwhelming friendliness and happiness of the people was amazing.
I went to Addis Ababa, Aksum, Bahir Dah, Debark, the Simien Mountains, Gondar, Lalibala and Lake Langano as well as many small villages during our travels. I think my special memory is of Ethiopia’s amazing rock-hewn churches. Many over 1000 years old and most filled with incredible wall and ceiling paintings.
There were 4 of us travellers, a charming local guide, Eldana, who lives in Ethiopia, a trip organiser (Robin Hastings), a professional photographer (Valerie Martin) who both run the company Photoadventours
Well worth a look here – they were fabulous, professional people.
I have added a very small sample of the 55GB of photos I took. The rest are on my SmugMug site with all my other travel photos here .
I hope you enjoy!!!!!

Apart from the magnificent scenery over there, aren’t the people just beautiful? You have an amazing collection … a trip (and shots) of a lifetime.

It is obvious that you relate to people beautifully. You are a master photographer, but it takes more than that to get such glorious portaits.

Congratulations Heather, I viewed every one of your shots on Smugmug and it is a collection of extraordinary, outstanding work. Most of all, I really enjoyed the fact that your images tell so much about the places you visited in Ethiopia, and beautifully.
