Feeding Time!
This is a Digital Painting done with some vector drawing.
This painting was taken from Amanda Cotton’s photograph “Into the Mix”. however, there is NO photograph used in the art it self, it started off a blank file. These are Lemon sharks feeding off of bate tossed over board.
This was a very hard project for me as I have never done an underwater theme before nor have I ever painted a shark.
Both Amanda and I LOVE sharks, but she took it one step beyond me, she swims with them and photographs them to help show people that they are not the monsters Hollywood has made them to be.
this work has also been donated to

i still think that the shark’s skin’s texture need more detail, i think i need to look less soft more harrsh

well the detail can not be seen in terms of texture in this seen with the distance and such. a shark doesn’t have details that can be seen from that far away. However they do have a lot of texture but you would only see it close up. if you look at it that closely, you would see a bunch of tinny sharp teeth scales. they go in one direction . if you rub one way it is smooth if you rub the other way you could cut your hand.

i do not like the way they look and yes I fear them too, very happy they don’t do them overhere, i am more into the furry stuff, although my all time fav animal is a killer whale! :)

OH wow. I never saw this one before. Great job! If you like sharks you should read a book called “The Devil’s Teeth” which is a non fiction book about the Great Whites that are off of the Fallaron Islands off the coast of San Francisco. Fantastic read and a must for any shark fan.

Wyland would be proud… I’ve had too many close encounters with “the men in the gray suits”. (The surf break in my backyard is known by the locals as Shark Country. Aumakua, in the form of sharks, are said to reside out there as well.) I certainly would NEVER want to see this many of them together in one place.
