This Is Mikie my Green Iguana, Giant Greens as they are called. She is a tropical lizard about 7 years old. (5 feet 9 pounds)
I love her very much because she is a special lizard. She isn’t like other iggys. Mikie will hug me,(i kid you not) BUT only me. no one else would dare get that close to her and I would not let them ‘cause she bites. She is sweet with me tho and that is all that counts.
Thousands of years ago the natives of Mexico once thought that the iguana HAD to be with the Kings in their tombs because that was the ONLY way he could come back to earth and still be able to return to his rewarded land. They thought the green iguana was the key to returning to earth, like an earth totom.
Mikie was a rescued from a sure fate of painful death. She was just 4 months old tossed in a cage of 12 with one dead already. There she was a skinny little green lizard who’s shop keep had NO idea what the heck he had.
She never asked to be here but when she arrived, she was sick. I took her to the vet and found the little baby lizard had bone deasese due to poor living and food and it cause her to loose her entire fingernail on her right hand, 3 spikes, and 1 inch of tail.
I nursed her back to health and as you can see the past is far behind her 7 healthy years latter.

RIGHT, They are prehistoric Animals, they were here long before the dino and are still here unchanged sense then. These guys are part of a group of animals known as living fossles.

Well some igggys do come when called but Mikie come if she damn well pleases! LOL It’s a 50 50 chance, LOL She will jump in a towel out of the water on cue! LOL
She lives in a cage but can come out if she wants to, it isn’t a great idea to let ‘em free roam because if they are dominate, they will chase you all over the house claming it as theirs. Mikie IS dominate.

Yes the ingrate! she is so sweet and all but she is what she is and she hisses and bites at times the brat she bit my dog cost me 111.00 in vet bills. I had to take her in because Mikie bit her right on the dang nose, wasn’t no little bit either, But the vet said it was a surface bite, what they call a warning bite. SHEEZE it bleed like a bottle of ketchup!! I hate to think if it was a REAL bite! Lord. needless to say I keep them AWAY from each other now! LOL
