Sydney night shoot - round up

I’ll start by saying – please note, this is Sydney, not Melbourne, we kept our clothes on. Mostly. (Thanks to J.R. for pointing this out)

We started off just before sunset – so everyone could shoot that pretty little boat that was in. Hoping for a sunset…not much happened in the sky unfortunately.

Then we moved up, as it got dark. More views of the bridge, and boat, and opera house.

Andrew had his own ideas about where everyone should sit – here he is now filling us all in

Then there were jazz hands – Andrew again

We came across a red carpet, for which there seemed to be no event

We stopped for some refreshments at a local place – they quickly recognized our celebrity status and gave us a table for 12 – ahead of a long line of people. Cool.

John let me play with his 70-200 f2.8. I must say, size does matter, and yes I enjoyed it.

There were some interesting characters on the trip

But eventually we all got so tired…it was time to go home

EDIT: Excellent suggestion from David below – tag your work from the night with RBSYD0208 so we can all find it!

    Hi RBer’s…..

I’d like to say thanks for organising the shoot and appologies for not staying with the group.

    The reasons i went the opposite direct are that neither I nor my friend and brother were keen on the huge crowds around the quay; for me the backstreets of the rocks would have been finer on such a busy evening, i didnt know about the boat being in;

May I suggest a bit of a mud map (to be shared pre shoot) for the next meet-up; i’m all for exploring, but for me the opera house and bridge have been done to death over the past 30 years of taking pics; we actually ventured over to the north side, kirrabilli, where the crowds were non existant. My friend had NEVER been over to kirrabilli, in all 30 yrs of her life living in Sydney !! We shot around luna park and the cityscape looking south.

I am keen to come out and play again, and dont mind a bit of organising the event…watch this space!

Have fun, catch some of you sometime soon.

    Regards,
    David

No problem David – we only spent a while around the quay, then we wandered through the rocks – got really good locations – you should’ve stuck with us!

pssst – we did have a plan by the way, which I sent out via email and posted in the forums, and told everyone about the ship being in….And actually we followed that plan pretty closely, other than loosing a few people – it’s difficult to organize people when not everyone keeps up with what’s going on.
