Sarah, I wish I knew what this was (OK, I gather it’s a Protea, but what’s that?) It is truly beautiful and the way you’ve shot it with the raindrops (how lucky you were that it rained!!) makes for a stunning picture.

And thanks for commenting on my Big Apple… someone just bought a framed print of that today… wish I knew who it was!

Thanks for the comment – proteas are flowers (obviously) that grow on a bush – quite large ones – this is just the tip of one. I think they pretty much grow all around the southern hemisphere.

Proteas are beautiful at the worst of times but, this one, with the rain drops on the hairs, is absolutely beautiful. The colour is lovely, the dark tips make a wonderful contrast, the DoF is good and then you have the tall shapely flower – it all adds up to a stunning shot.

the rain was definitely an inspiration for this beautiful shot!
