Legacy

You don’t need to know me to know my work
I don’t have to be on your breakfast cereal boxes
Or have my photographs littering your magazines
or stamps or dollar bills

You don’t need to know about my life,
or my personal habits,
or even my name…

Because without my work, I will cease to be
But without me, my work will still live on…

In your heart…
In your mind…
In your soul,
the very fibers of your being…

It will live on in you…

Because it is you.

It’s all about the contributions we make and the inspirations we can give. we don’t need to be famous if we’ve touched someone’s lives.

Alicia Evans is a tenacious writer/artist from Detroit, MI. She spends her time confused about why the sky is falling and how to hold it up. When she’s not not doing that, she likes to eat strawberry flavored dairy products and create all kinds of cool stuff.

I love this, very grab you by the cerebral faculties that make us writers, and slap us with words. Fun, honest, fun read.

  • thanks!! :D i was inspired by the modernists i’m studying in poetry class. the idea of compression really appeals to me even if other aspects of modernism don’t. lol thank you for liking this :-)

Through your art (And a little spike of denial to give the life-punch a real kick <- Pun power!) you will live forever.
