I thought it would be fun to do a photo shoot where the beloved fairytale princess, Snow White, is embodied. I already had the fair skin and dark hair. With the help of my friend Charlotte, who took the pictures, I donned the red lips and an authentic, steel-boned corset to get the look. This is what we came up with. :)
The photo was originally a little bleached out, so i digitally adjusted the exposure and put an Orton effect on it to further boost the brightness of the colors and fairytale feel.
What I learned from the photo shoot is that to channel Snow White, to really be “the fairest of them all,” you don’t have to be the most physically beautiful. Instead, you accept and own everything you are with no apologies. It wasn’t until I stopped wondering if I’d be pretty enough for the role and just started embracing what I had (why I did fit the role, that this was a way to have fun with my friend, and that I genuinely wanted to find my lighter self again and all the love I had in me that wasn’t tainted, a return to purity) that I started taking good pictures. This shoot was actually quite liberating for me! It is the first time I’ve ever been a model not just photographing myself or being photographed by my now-husband. I have gained from it a lasting sense of inner and outer beauty.
