Masque by DeeLishess

We often figuratively wear a mask that we think others will find beautiful. It is usually projected to be more balanced and simultaneously more ambiguous. Wearing the mask can blind others and even ourselves to the true beauty lying beneath the surface. Yet remove the mask, and we are more beautiful, albeit more imperfect, than any contrived superficial projection.

This was done using a standard ink pen on ordinary printer paper.

I love the actual work, the eyes are beautiful. When you say beautiful, stretch out the word for exaggeration, because that is how I meant it wink Love it. Being a vain girl though, I like my masque, not just the literal make-up I wear (because that happens to be my own visual creative interpretation of myself), but the metaphorical as well, it suits a purpose. The world is not ready for all my beauty (or as fergie put it, my lovely lady lumps… lol), I like to poison in small doses, lol

  • lol thanks, girl! i was pretty proud of the eyes too. :) and don’t you dare get rid of your makeup! i love seeing what you’ll do next! :) you’re an artist. thanks for the compliment! especially since i didn’t think this came out quite as well as i’d originally hoped. :) hugs xoxo

YES MY BABY…BUT YOUR WORDS IS NOT VALID FOR THE HYPOCRITES THAT,WHEN TAKE OFF THEIR MASCK ARE HORRIBLE…
    YOUR WORK IS SUPERWONDERFUL!!!!!!!!

  • true true. some are indeed horrible. however, being a writer as well as an artist, i see beauty even in ugliness. kindness is ALWAYS better, though. :) thank you so much for the compliment!

Very nice, Lish. The lines in this remind me of Laea Johnson a little. Her birthday just past, ya know. :) xox

  • thank you! yeah, i guess she kinda does. :) that’s awesome that this reminds you of her, ‘cause she’s hot! lol and happy birthday to her, indeed: she’s still just as proud of her age as she ever was. :)

lovely work.. is this hand created?

  • thanks! and yep; done entirely with a standard ink pen. then i used a photo editing program to turn it to black and white (it was originally on canary yellow paper) and up the contrast. :)
