    beautiful! Is there a way you can look and see if these are Gomphus clavatus? I’m so curious about seeing these in person but don’t think I’ll ever get to unless I travel.

  • thank you! i don’t believe these are the ones you seek tho they are probably related. a friend who’s quite expert told me what these were at the time but unfortuantely i lost my notes and he’s no longer available to ask either

    A common name is Pig’s Ears…
    But maybe Chanterelles instead?
    Both have similiar textures under their skirts :o)

  • i believe what i have there are indeed chanterelles and not pigs ears. always get a chuckle from “pigs ears” as i imagine trying to make a silk purse from fungi :-)
