    Beautiful capture

  • Thanks Mik. I was hoping you might be able to give this one a name. I’ve never seen one before.

Hi Elaine – it is a Trigger Plant (not an orchid) – specificically stylidium schoeoides or ‘Cow Kicks’ If you touch the trigger it will zing over (helps pollinate the flower by zapping visiting bees)

  • Oh, thanks so much Penny. I’ve been googling ‘white orchid’ – no wonder I couldn’t come up with an ID.

Pretty, love the way it dances!

  • It does look as though it’s dancing Pamela. A lovely description. Thanks for the fave too.

A beautiful orchid – I have been trying to take a photo of one in a pot – this is so much more special as it is in its natural surroundings. Yours wins!!

  • Thanks for the comment Christina. At first I thought it was an orchid, but Penny let me know it’s actually a Trigger Plant.

Love the name and it makes me wonder how in the world that common name came to be! Congratulations on your feature in Wildflowers of the World – FAVE:>)

  • Thank you Carol for your comment and fave. I too wondered about the name.
