Benches by

Benches come in all different shapes and sizes, are made of different materials and appear in many different places – railway stations, parks, riversides, along the coast, shopping malls. Most people don’t even give them a second look; they just sit on them or walk past them. What I love about benches is not just the way they look, but what they represent to me as a photographer. I take in the setting that they’ve been placed in as well as the nature of the bench itself, such as what they are made of and the colours they may have been painted or decorated with. These things together combine an image for me to work on, whether it’s straight from the camera with some minor editing or a software enhanced artwork.
