Found this wildflower growing on the banks of the Blackwood River in Bridgetown. Latin name is ‘Ptilotus manglesii.’ Flowers late winter to early summer. Shot with Canon 450D.

    Thanks Raoul. Everybody sees an image with different eyes which makes photography even more interesting. I hadn’t seen my pom pom as a firework, but now I see the resemblance. Thanks also to the hosts of the Australian Native Plants Group for featuring this – my first featured work. Yipee!

    Thanks Maria. I was surprised to spot these quite recently – never saw them last year, but the local Shire did a controlled burn at the end of last year in that area and maybe the pom poms didn’t have so much competition from the non-indigenous rubbish.
