She said she would bind me and keep me,
my Ever-Queen

I said – “what’s the rush?” – her face flushed
Riding on her memorable form

She said – “my sweet – love is slippery”,
donning a ransomed suit

I said – “but – we have only just met”
I said…I said..

She smiled – a quick and quizzical smile
“Don’t be naïve” she said

“..we were meant to be cemented,
we were meant to entwine…”

She laughed then, my Ever-Queen
“Poor boy – have you never met one like me?”

But she had said – “I will be your Ever-Queen”
I know she did
