Have the wish I wish tonight.
I’m sure we’ve all wished on a star at some stage in our lives, whether it be the brightest in the sky, or a solitary shooting star. The 5 year old inside me wants to believe that if i were to make a wish right now, it would come true “because i saw that star fall from the sky”.
But what to wish for? Money? Success? Happiness?
Although “all of the above” seems to be an enticing option, right now, I’d wish for Clarity and Opportunity.
Why? Quite simply because I’ve been thinking alot about my photography ventures lately, and came to the rather frustrating conclusion that I simply have no direction. I try something, then move on without first exhausting all avenues of the original theme. I have so many things I want to try, I rush to complete each project and have no liking for, or take no satisfaction from, the product.
Thinking about this, I dedicated some time to look through my favourite images by OTHER artists, and found that i am drawn predominantly to portraits and dreamy wildflowers at the moment. And actually now think about it, that’s where I’ve ALWAYS been drawn really. Perhaps it’s the untold story, the possibility. I don’t know. Looking at my own images, I have little to no representation of either subject. WHY?
Perhaps it’s a fear of failing to capture what I see in the work of others, or it could be something else entirely. I think we can all agree, my wish for Clarity is quite valid, and much needed!
So, Opportunity. Perhaps this should be a wish for another star, but I’m not willing to take any chances. Opportunity to follow in a specific direction. Not dally from pillar to post, walking in circles, following the same signposts to nowhere in particular…
My inner child is watching, waiting for that elusive falling star….

Clarity is a lovely thing to look for; as for opportunity, I prefer to look for Direction, from which if we get the direction right and we’re progressing then surely we’ll find opportunity [it’s the same sort of thing as yoyr intention I believe]
The other thing I prize highly in life is Contentment, and the simpler the lifestyle the more contentment I find
