MARKING TIME

I’m sure I dont know
but until it arrives
I cannot pass go
I hate that it’s making me
always mark time
I’m the robotic soldier
wanting to burst out of line
Is it something new
that I’ve not yet seen
or a relic of my past
of somewhere I’ve been
How will I know
when it’s my turn to play
to roll the dice
and the numbers obey
I can only believe
that I’ll know in my heart
the curtain will open in time for my part
But will I play solo
or will there be two
and I wonder indeed
if it will be you.
