Sir Joseph Cook Boardwalk at Hassans Walls Lookout is named after Sir Joseph Cook, Prime Minister of Australia in 1913 and from Lithgow. Hassans Walls Lookout is the highest lookout in the Blue Mountains at 1,100m above sea level. The escarpment the lookout is on, was named Hassans Walls by Governor Macquarie in 1815 while he was travelling through the valley. It is said to have reminded him of the Walls of Hassan in southern India.
