The Echinacea or Braneria Purpura is in the Composite family in the Group Coneflowers. It is blue-violet with 7 or more parts petals and blooms in the summer. It has alternate leaves, loves the sun, is native to North America, and grows up to 1m tall in fields and open areas. It is drought tolerant, attracts butterflies and bees and the Goldfinches love the seeds.
