Thank you very much for those that voted for Hounds Of Arawn in the Movement Challenge for the Coloured Pencils Group. This is a fantastic group with some wonderfully talented artists using this lovely media so I am over the moon to have been chosen. Many many thanks.

Well done Deb. I’ve always loved swirly lines, as they add movement to a picture. Is it just my imagination, or do I detect a very faint echo of the Celtic Book of Kells in those dogs? Maybe it is just a subconscious race memory you had?

I was going to write “this is one of the strongest images you have drawn”, but in honesty, all your images are strong. I do lots of paintings and I’d like to think that occasionally I come up with a good’un, but you are consistently good.

  • Deborah Holman:

thank you so much Dave I did this one as an illustration for the tale of Arawn from The Mabinogion and at the time I was studying the pictish art so an accumulation of that and who wouldn’t be influenced by the Book of Kells.
