From Out The Forest
Whilst I was away I took the drawing with me and painted it in watercolours. I haven’t used watercolour paints for several years and really enjoyed the experience. I have made a few adjustments from the original drawing notably the blue background which I think enhances the colours more and gives a good contrast. I’ve included the original coloured pencil drawing so you can make the comparison and would appreciate your comments as to which one your prefer.

I love the blue background and the curvy designs seem to stand out more. Her face changed, and seems more innocent. The only thing I like more about the drawing is that her face was a little bigger and I liked the way it was positioned, otherwise I like the painting more.

They are both exquisite and the difference is minimal and really just a feeling, I probably wouldn’t have been able to tell had I not known.I prefer the original simply because it feels more alive, but I find that’s often the way when I rework a favourite piece. xox jenb
