The Norns
This is an oil painting I did some years ago to illustrate the Norse Myth of the three Norns.
They are past, present and future. The Crone is the past and is therefore looking away to what has been. The present is the Mother and she is looking straight at you as is the now. The future is the maiden who’s eyes are covered by her hair and cannot be seen.
They guard the tree of knowledge
