I Have A Beautiful Friend
Photography by Deborah Zaragoza
I met a woman who has been part of my life for the last 15 years, She is 96 years old now. She gets up every morning and does her make-up and her hair. She goes to get her manicure and she loves the color orange because she has red hair.
She always looks immaculate, she is always smiling, and she loves to hug you. She still goes to operas, live theatres, and the most posh restaurants. She has never said an unkind word to anyone as long as I have known her.
One day she was getting dressed and looked at the mannequin and said, wow that mannequin is not holding up very well. That made me laugh so hard, I had to sit down. Then she asked me, do you think this dress brings out my hazel eyes?
I want to be like her, loving the good and ignoring the bad. If you ever get a chance to meet her, it will change your life.
And yes, I told her it brought out the beautiful sparkles in her eyes.

I love art and am moving in a new direction with abstract art but still keeping photography as well. I love traditional art and will be posting Watercolors and Ink Artworks (and some acrylic) .

Great photo and greater story :) I love your story because, of course, I’m a redhead and happen to think that orange is a fabulous color (my youngest little redhead happens to adore orange!) and also because I work in a clinic that deals with many seniors and I love listening to what they have to say. I especially pay close attention to those dear ladies who just stay young at heart (the ones with the sparkle)….why, just this week I had a patient who was 65 and spoke very matter of fact about her fitness class that keeps her agile….a pole dancing class ;) Love those sassy ladies!
LOL, that is a wonderful story as well Roxanne, thank you for sharing that! I am still smiling!

So sweet and impressive story! And the image is so symbolic! I love the old people who can stay young forever, it’s very encouraging, make me not to be afraid of getting older; lovely and very sensitive.
