After my visit to the UK earlier this year I was keen to paint my version of Stonehenge which I was fortunate enough to see.
Very few sites in England present the viewer with such grandeur and mystery, sparks the imagination so much as this circle of stones in Wiltshire. Writers, adventurers, historians and conquerors have all been intrigued and flummoxed as to, ‘Who built Stonehenge, and how were they planted there?’ Some have the philosophy that Druids, Neolithic, fables of Merlin and King Arthur, ancient giants roamed there, Yet the question is still asked, who or indeed what, managed to drag several heavy stones more than 220 miles (355km) from North Wales, across many hills to be aligned with mathematical and astronomical precision 5,000 years ago remains unanswered.
