This project was about how time manifests itself on us physically. I wanted to photograph older people, specifically focusing on hands and faces, the areas on our bodies that generally show our age the most. I think in today’s culture there is so much focus on staying young and getting rid of your wrinkles. I understand that keeping your looks is very important to some people but I think in all of that the value of naturally aged beauty gets lost. Maybe you’ve had a life filled with worry about your mischievous kids that at the end of the day you’ll always love. We can see it in your forehead wrinkles. Maybe you’ve been married for 60 years and your spouse made you laugh everyday. We can see it in your deep laugh lines. And maybe you worked with your hands your whole life. Well we can see it in them too. I love every aspect of this. I hope we all take a moment to appreciate the elders in our lives everyday. They lived through a lot to get here today.
