After growing up surrounded by some of the world’s best beaches, Australia’s most beautiful lake, and a World Class winemaking region in the Hunter Valley, it’s not surprising that my art radiates joy and excitement. When people ask how he can see things in such bold colour I simply point out the amazing palette nature has used in my surroundings, and they understand perfectly. I currently lives my his wife and daughter near Lake Macquarie.
With 21 years of retail under my belt, most of which spent managing or owning some of Newcastle’s best known and successful Computer stores, I have learned to listen to people and managed to create a product which allows my passion to evoke strong emotion in those who view my work.
There are two subjects which really captured my imagination, the awesome and endless wonders of the Hunter region and the soothing curves of the Adobe architecture common in the Southwest USA. We sometimes take for granted the wonderful things we have in our own backyard. It wasn’t until I had done significant travel that I really developed an appreciation of my surroundings. Now I look for the right subjects to paint every time I get in my car.
In late 2006 I got to experience first hand the beauty of the Southwest when I visited Albuquerque and Sante Fe in New Mexico. A chance to spend time walking around the beautiful Adobe buildings, spending a day visiting the galleries in Santa Fe, one of the world’s great art cities, these are not only something that will live in my memory as a great vacation, but the experience has definitely made me a better and more driven artist.
