The seaside resort Prerow is located within the National Park “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” which stretches from Ahrenshoop along the southern coast to the island of Hiddensee.
Prerow itself is a fishing village. It can look back over 130 years as a seaside resort. Thanks to the climatic contrasts of sea, meadows, forest and reeds in combination with good water quality, it was always known as a health resort. In 1998, the Minister of Social and Economic Affairs officially recognized the village as a seaside and health resort.
The village of Prerow with its over 1800 inhabitants has become the largest village on the Darss. The typical thatched roof cottages are well-preserved and have given the village calmness long ago to this day.
Prerow offers a comprehensive multitude of culture in the Darß-Museum, the Seafarer Church or at the Kulturkaten “Kiek In”.
This capture shows the "Kulturkate"as it was before the recent modernisation.
