Farringdon Station 1974, London, UK. by

This picture shows Farringdon Station during the evening rush hour in 1974. On the left a circle line train and a Watford line service departing, whilst a locomotive hauled outer suburban train heads for Kings Cross and further afield.

People tell me I should take pictures which sell, but I feel I would be selling my soul. Instead I keep on taking the pictures which I enjoy taking. I will probably never get rich from photography, or even make a decent living from it, but at least I will have left authentic images which might just be of of interest to someone after I have gone!

The interesting thing about this image is that, if it had been a Sunday (which it isn’t) because both the Class 31 hauled train and the Watford Service would have started at Baker St not Moorgate or Aldgate as here, I could have been driving the Circle line train!

    Good memories David.

  • I was living at Pinner at the time and working at Barbican, so didn’t have to change, quite convenient!
