Artist's Description

A highlight in the history of the Bochum railway museum was the large vehicle show put on in 1985 as part of the 150th anniversary of the German railways.

This strange looking locomotive No.98 307 was built in the early years of the 20th Century and designed for one man operation, using a sophisticated semi-automatic stoking mechanism. It was used mainly to haul light trains on short branch lines. It remained in service until 1963.
