Early evening in the "Olde Ship Inn", Seahouses, 1980s, NE England. by

The “Olde Ship” is a veritable sea museum -The scrubbed wooden foor is constructed from pine ships decking, while the walls are festooned with a wide variety of nautical artifacts, model fishing boats and a replica of Seahouses’ lifeboat, The ‘Grace Darling’. Figure heads, diving helmets, pulling oars, fish baskets, branding irons, Lamps, all add to the unique ‘feel’ of circumstances that was only too prevalent many years ago.

(Captured on Fuji Velvia film in the 1980s with an Olympus OM1 & 28mm Lens)

People tell me I should take pictures which sell, but I feel I would be selling my soul. Instead I keep on taking the pictures which I enjoy taking. I will probably never get rich from photography, or even make a decent living from it, but at least I will have left authentic images which might just be of of interest to someone after I have gone!

The landlord, Alan Glen was the art teacher at the local senior school when I worked in the area and attended the evening art classes. I haven’t been in there for years.
    Cheers neil

  • Thanks Neil, I missed that!
I haven’t been back there since I took this in the 1980s, I hope it hasn’t changed too much!
