I did not know it at the time, but my stepfather passed away within 45 minutes after this photograph was taken (Oct 12, 2010). And it made me realize how this photo and his passing were the same. The peaceful mood of the entire image is a symbol of how his last few days were. The calm in the water is a symbol of my mom, who finally has her peace, knowing he no longer has any pain. The reflection is a symbol of his life and the wonderful memories we all have to share. The sailboats are a symbol for his journey to be with the Lord, slow gentle ride. And the sunrise is a symbol of a new beginning, a new life (with God), and an end to a dark illness (cancer). The sun can also symbolize, light, as in going to the light, and that the light is God Himself.
As you look at this photo, you probably can compare it to someone you know who has been called home to be with the Lord. May you always have peace.
Isaiah 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
