Awesome Capture!! This was my favorite to ride in..the ones home had pot belly stoves in them..always wondered why they never caught on fire LOL…
Hehe..this one had a stove in it too! It’s a shame that this is what they’ve been reduced to. I walked to this today with my dog and I had no idea it was there. I may have to go back for a closer look-see! Thanks, Keith! And thanks for the fave!! :o))
Unhappily, this is the fate of many a caboose these days. Once in a great while you see one on a train ~ probably being transported somewhere for what ever purpose. When I first met Ray, he was living in an apartment in Buffalo, & in the kitchen was a coal-burning cast-iron caboose stove. Eventually it made its way into his big old step-van which we used as a camper, after which we donated it to the Western New York Railway Historical Society where it found a home in one of their cabooses…. See what you’ve started? This is a great find & a great shot of it, Deb.
It’s funny how the boys like the engines and the girls liked the caboose. Must be something romantic about them…standing on the back, waving good-bye to your love… I think I need more coffee..hehe. Anyway, apparently the vans that had the little pot-belly stoves were phased out around the early ’50’s. I came upon this totally by accident and will return to it this weekend to explore it a little more. It’s within walking distance of my house! :o) Thanks so much, Sheila! I’m glad you like it!!

This is a great shot Deb. Are you not in Old Things Are Vintage. It’s Leslie’s and my group. We would love to see you there.
Thank you, Vickie! As a matter of fact, yes I am in this group and I will add it now. ( I missed it somehow )
